Say to the Storm

DAY 6 OF 6

We talked about who you are and whose you are. We took responsibility for capturing worry-filled thoughts and fixing our thoughts upon Him.

We learned that answer to prayer (a promise from God) often comes after an action we should take.

We realized the authority of the Word of God.

Today is the day we say to the storm, I’m done. No matter how much the thunder crashes and lightning blinds, no matter how deep the flood waters rise and winds whip through, I will stand. Today we take all the verses from this week and we say to our storm:

I am God’s masterpiece. He created me to do good things that He planned for me. This storm does NOT line up with those plans. The storm of sin must go, because the Word of God says I am no longer enslaved to sin. The storm of inadequacy must go, because the Word of God says I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

The storm of fear and worry must go, as I choose to capture fear-filled thoughts and align them with the Word of God which says if I stop worrying and, instead, pray about everything, tell God what I need, and thank Him for all He’s done, I will experience God’s peace. I choose to do that now.

The storm of heavy burdens and exhaustion must cease, because the Word of God says if I give my burdens to Him, He will give me rest. Father, God, I give my burdens to you now.

The storm of temptation and troublesome thoughts must go, because I give no room to Satan in my life. If I resist the devil, he is required to flee. My Father said so.

The storm of financial burdens and of not-enough must go. I come today seeking God above all else. The word promises that when I do, my needs will be met.

The storm of sickness and disease must go, because today I make you, Heavenly Father, my shelter and my refuge. I put my full trust in you and in knowing that when I do, no plague can come near my home.

Today, I take the authority I have as a child of the living God whose Words flow out of my mouth. I have faith and I believe every prayer and every promise. I praise the One who is the same yesterday, today and forever. I praise the One who loves, who wants good for me, and who called me to a purpose. Today, I say to the storm the very words of the One who conquered death, hell, and the grave.

Today, I say to the storm, "You no longer have power over me." Today, I say to the storm the same words that Jesus, my friend and Savior, said: Peace, be still. I pray this in the name above all other names, Jesus. Amen.”

Day 5

About this Plan

Say to the Storm

When life’s storms appear, do you know who you are and whose you are? Your storm doesn’t define you. Your burdens don’t define you. Your past doesn’t define you. Your circumstances don’t define you. What defines you, my friend is your Creator. Each day of this devotion we’ll learn how to speak God’s word to our storms and over our lives. Let’s be empowered by His Word! This reading plan is from the devotional book "Say: Speaking God's Promises" by Allyson McElroy of On3Ministries
