DAY 7 OF 7

The Power of Prayer to Overcome

My husband was a workaholic. I missed him. And I wanted better for our family. He worked for a company that was life-draining, and it deeply impacted all of us. Still, he was a gentle giant of a man who loved God and his family. He just had this overdeveloped work ethic and couldn’t seem to stop striving in a no-win situation.

I believed with my whole heart that God had a better plan than the one we were living. Suffice to say, I went to the mat and prayed like I’d never prayed before. Lord, I know You want more for our family. You said that if I pray Your will, I can know that I will have that which I ask for, so I’m thanking You now, ahead of time, for moving heaven and earth if You have to, to give my husband a new job and a new perspective on his work life. Do a mighty work in our family, Lord!

I prayed faithfully. God answered that prayer beyond anything I could have hoped for. God wants wholeness, redemption, and restoration in your story. “And we are confident that He hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases Him. And since we know He hears us when we make our requests, we also know that He will give us what we ask for” (1 John 5:15).

Jesus intends for us to overcome because He overcame. The word of our testimony activates the spiritual realm and adds momentum to the kingdom story God is writing on the earth today. The blood saves us. Our testimony activates us. And when we love Jesus more than our very lives, when we see our eternity as so precious that we’d give our earthly lives in whatever way He asks of us, there’s nothing that the enemy can do to us.

We render him powerless. We become overcomers. It’s fear that keeps us under his thumb. It’s self-preservation and love of comfort that render us powerless against him. But when we truly see that we are more spiritual than physical, more found than lost, more equipped than vulnerable, we will dare to follow Jesus wherever He leads us.

Lord, You are a promise-maker and a promise-keeper. I trust You! Fill me with conviction, courage, and clarity. Thank you for hearing my prayer today. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Day 6

About this Plan

Scripture is God's love letter to us. Every promise He makes, He keeps. Everything He asks of us, He redeems. But that doesn't mean life is easy, so we need to be reminded that we serve a faithful God who equips us to prevail. Beloved author and speaker Susie Larson guides us through Scripture while encouraging us to feel and to trust God’s presence in our everyday lives.
