The Heart of God Towards the Poor and Suffering

DAY 5 OF 14

In order to truly root compassion into who you are, it’s important to first see how it has transformed your own life. We were all at one point people who had a cause that needed to be defended, both spiritually and physically.

There was a point in your own life when you were lost, seeking something to fill the emptiness inside of you. You were destitute in spirit. But God chose you and out of His perfect grace, He bound up your broken heart and set you free from the bondage of sin.

Physically, most of us can recall a hard time when money was tight, or there was no security of a job. Perhaps you have gone days where you missed a meal because you couldn’t afford it. Remember the trials you have faced and the difficulty you waded through. In that time of difficulty, did not the smallest act of kindness become the greatest blessing!

In recounting your own times of need, be spurred to help others. Bestow upon someone else an act of kindness that could bless their day. The Lords favor is upon you to bring good news to the poor!

Take some time to reflect on your own time(s) of need and thank God for His provision during those times. Pray that God would use you to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of others.
