The Gospels in 30

DAY 1 OF 30

Day 1

Matthew 1-3

In the 13th verse of the second chapter, God sends an angel to warn Joseph of Herod’s plan to kill Jesus. Joseph heeds God’s warning and flees to Egypt. In verse 19, an angel appears once again and Joseph obeys the Word of the Lord again. In verse 22, however, Joseph uses common sense, “he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there”. We see that he is eventually warned, but it was common sense that caught his attention.

In this season, we must obey first the Word of the Lord. Whatever He commands, we must do. Next, we should keep our eyes open and use the wisdom the Lord has provided us to avoid any traps that the enemy has set. God gave us emotions so that we could leverage them, not to be overcome by them (In Joseph’s case, the POSITIVE EMOTION was fear).

Today, realize that your emotions serve as triggers to be acted on. Emotions were designed to benefit us, not overtake us.

Day 2

About this Plan

The Gospels in 30

During this plan, you'll read the entirety of the Gospels in just 30 days. Are you up for the challenge? Doing so will require 2-4 chapters of Bible reading each day, along with a deep dive devotion highlighting a couple verses from each day's reading. We hope you enjoy this plan written by Cody Griggs, missionary to Ecuador.
