Day 10

Jude reminds us that we are in a spiritual battle: “But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you’ ” (9). In light of this, we acknowledge that we need God’s help to put our trust in Him and not our own abilities.

This also brings to mind how the answer to the prophet Daniel’s prayer was delayed by spiritual warfare: “The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia” (Daniel 10:13). How important it is to be up to date with God and resist the devil! 

I am desperately dependent upon You, Father God, if I am to find daily victory over darkness. May You give me strength—and wisdom—as I seek to be used of You to advance the gospel in the matchless name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
