Find Your Rhythm: Return to Healthy, Not to Normal

DAY 3 OF 7

MIND — Mental Health

Is your mind healthy? In the chaos of the urban, digital age, it’s easier than ever to lose your mind. Whether you are aware of it or not, you may be living with some form of low-grade anxiety. Between digital distraction, relational pain, and daily stress it is easy to pick up burdens larger than you choose to acknowledge. Today is a good day to check-in with yourself and begin to acknowledge what you’re carrying mentally.

Below are 3 simple practices you could embrace to help you keep a healthy mind by curating positive relationships with technology and giving your mind space to breathe...

1. Limit Social Media — It is no secret that social media has taken over! If you find yourself endlessly scrolling Instagram for no reason and find your mind becoming numb, create a rhythm of no screens after 8pm or before 8am. Allow your mind to rest and find peace before a night’s sleep. It will also set the coming day up for a win.

2. Have A Digital Sabbath — It is hard to admit to a phone addiction. It doesn’t seem as legitimate or serious as other addictions but is an addiction nonetheless. Decide to spend one whole day a week with no screens at all. Turn off all your devices and spend time recovering. Rest, read a book or engage in a hobby.

3. Embrace A Hobby — If you assume hobbies are for old people, you are wrong! A hobby is a great way to give your mind time to breathe and for you to focus on something you enjoy. It could be as simple as cooking or as detailed as building model planes.

Why not commit to embracing one of these for the next month. Embracing a healthy ‘mind’ practice in addition to your healthy ‘soul’ practice will begin to show dividends quicker than you realise. As you read today’s Bible verses, invite the Holy Spirit to help and encourage you as you begin to cultivate a healthy mind.
