Love God Greatly: Know Love: A Study on 1, 2, 3 JohnSample
Second John is written to “an elect lady and her children” (v. 1). Many scholars believe that this elect lady represents the church and its members. It brought John great joy to hear that the members of this church were walking in truth.
Our life in Jesus is more than what we believe about Him; it’s how we live. Faith and works go hand in hand (James 2:14–26). Without action, our faith is mere talk. James talks about this in his book, as well, when he exhorted his readers to be doers of the word and not only hearers.
Our lives are an outward testimony of what is going on in our hearts. If God has changed our hearts then it should be evidenced in the way we live our lives. We say God is good. How does this affect our hard days? We say we are thankful and in awe at the fact that God has forgiven all of our sins. How do we handle forgiving others?
Lord, the salvation You give us not only forgives us of all of our sins but makes us able to live righteously. Help me to remember how good You have been to me so that I can be good to others. Help me to live out the faith I say I have. Amen.

About this Plan
The Apostle John had one clear message in his letters: Love one another. In the letters of 1, 2, and 3 John, the beloved disciple encouraged followers of Christ to love God by following His commands, and to love and honor fellow believers. John’s message is incredibly relevant to us today, offering insight to us as we seek to live like Jesus lived and love like Jesus loved.
