The Daily Dose

DAY 2 OF 3

Sometimes we try to complicate circumstances, but often the simplest things offer the best solutions. One way for us to begin cultivating joy is to make sure we are getting enough sleep. Sleep is our reset button and can do a world of good! It ensures that we are rested and ready to approach each day. Research tells us that the average human needs between 7-9 hours of sleep per day to allow the body to rest and reset. But rest is not just a biological and physiological need, it’s also a spiritual need. The Bible tells us from Jesus’ example that we need rest to continue walking forward into what God has called us to. In this season, our sleep has been disrupted by the chaos of all that is happening around us. We need to do everything we can to protect our sleep and to allow our bodies, our minds, our spirits, and our souls to be well rested and ready for all that God has for us.

Questions:

  • Identify one or two areas where you have been working really hard without proper rest. How can you intentionally create rest around that area this week?
  • Try putting your cell phone away at least one hour before bed every night this week. Journal about the differences you notice in the quality of your sleep and in how you feel.
