[All Things Series] We the People

DAY 2 OF 3

We the People Can Stand Firm

Do you remember the tension in your muscles and joints as a teenager? Your joints ached as your body adjusted while growing. When you are growing up, tension is normal. In order to grow, you need to go through that time of stretching and adjusting.

While we grow in the Lord and learn to adjust to this new reality, our goal as families and brothers and sisters in Christ should be to work things out together by standing firm in the Lord. Standing firm requires endurance and perseverance amid difficulties and trials. It is not easy to hold on to the mast while the wind and waves are tossing your boat. It requires a lot of physical strength to hold on to a firm piece of that boat and endure.

This week I felt really sad. I am a pastor––an extrovert pastor. I love being around people and enjoy spending time with my sheep. I am not used to preaching to an empty church and not seeing people’s faces and reactions. I was wondering when we are going to be back together. We have experienced so many disappointments and cancellations in these weeks–––prom, graduations, birthday parties, job promotions; the list is endless.

This is the moment when our faith is tested. We are called to stand firm in our trust of the Lord and in our connection with meaningful relationships. Let us be the ones who continue attending our Bible studies even though we do not enjoy zoom meetings so much, and make an effort to call friends and pray for each other.

May Jesus’s example encourage us and teach us how to stand firm. He fought for us alone on the cross. Everybody left Him, He stood firm because he knew that His sacrifice would bring salvation to the whole world. He held tightly without wavering to the hope of our future deliverance.

All this shall pass. We are going to make it through together, standing firm as one people in the Lord and the power of His might. Let us be a people who will have a testimony of prayer and perseverance among trials at the end of this pandemic. Even if we are tired and discouraged, we need to hold on to God’s promises and stand firm.

About this Plan

[All Things Series] We the People

During these times when everything around us is changing, we can grow closer together and stand firm. We can also learn to rejoice and be gracious. As children of God, we are called to surrender to Christ so that our lives can reflect His humility and selflessness as we wait for His return.
