YOU ARE ENOUGH

DAY 9 OF 14

There’s not much that is more infuriating than being told not to worry. Kids’ education, work deadlines, aging parents, mortgages, we’re in a pandemic for crying out loud! We have much to worry about. How can Jesus tell us not to worry?!

It’s important to note that Jesus isn’t belittling your concerns and responsibilities. He knows you, and cares deeply about the things that worry you.  He is simply saying when you worry, don’t worry like the world does – as though your worries are the only thing that matters. You are different to the pagans; you are a child of the King who created the universe and crafted people in his own image.

So, bring your concerns to God in prayer and give them over to your father. He has big broad shoulders and can carry them for you. Then turn your gaze outward to his Kingdom – make serving the Lord your priority, in the full knowledge that he can carry your worries for you.

Is anything holding you back from investing in kingdom priorities? Will you hand them over to God now?

Prayer: Father God, I know that you care deeply for us and that our worries are not small to you. Please hear my prayers for what worries me today but also prompt me to seek opportunities to show compassion, kindness and love to others, and keep me from focusing only on my worries. Amen.

YOU ARE ENOUGH

It can seem like the world is full of messages telling you that you are not good enough, smart enough, spiritual enough…or even that you are too much. It’s too easy to let these pull you down and suck the joy out of your day. But what does the Bible say about your value? This devotion series will offer you a daily reminder of your worth and value in Christ.
