Sacrifice: God Gives 100%

DAY 4 OF 5

God Gives Redemption

Ready:

“I have swept away your sins like a cloud. I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist. Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free.”  – Isaiah 44:22

Set:

Have you ever had a game where everything you did went the opposite of what you wanted? Your pitch never seemed to hit the target of the catcher’s mitt, or your hands couldn’t hold the pass thrown to you? How about not finding your balance on the balance beam or kicking the ball and having it roll out of bounds? In those times of frustration and let down, we want the next game to desperately go differently. We want to redeem the last performance with a flawless play where everything we do comes easily. Redemption means the act of being saved. We want to save face, save our team, save our image.

Just as we want to correct our flawed play, God wants to correct the misalignment of sin. He wants us in a close relationship, but sin separates us, so God set out to make sure we’d always have His strength and presence. While we were stuck in our sin, God had a rescue plan, and He implemented it in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It cost Him His dearly loved Son, but it was a price God was willing to pay, and there is nothing we can do to earn it—it is a gift. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are confident that even if we slip and fall, we have someone who sticks out His hand and helps us back up.

God went through great lengths to get to you. He gave 100% of Himself for you in giving His one and only Son, so you always have a place in God’s family. You have freedom in Christ and have been set alive from the bondage of sin. Christ gave His all for you to live in hope and have fullness, not only in eternity but in the here and now.

Go:

1. In what ways is God redeeming this season of life for you?

2. How can you live out of the freedom of Christ in your sport and daily life?

3. Tell someone who has been a big influence in your faith walk how much you appreciate them.

Workout:

Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8; 1 John 2:2

Overtime:

Your grace is a gift to us, but it cost You a lot. Thank You for the sacrifice you gave in Jesus that we could be redeemed and in Your family. Help me to seek after Your heart, and to live out of the fullness of Christ. Amen.
