DAY 2 OF 10

For Unto Us A Child Is Born

"For unto us a Child is born..."

How many times have we seen this scripture stitched on red velvet, bordered with holly and displayed on a mantel in December? This verse has become warm and cozy. Comfortable. Reassuring words on a Christmas mug. Yet the intention of scripture was never intended to be "Cozy, Cozy, Cozy" but "Holy! Holy! Holy!" This prophetic promise signified something earth-shattering to the people of ancient Israel. It blazed like lightning through the lives of those who longed for its fulfillment.

Have we become too comfortable with these thunderous words of Isaiah? When we lift our voices in December, we are actually forerunners of the voices in heaven who will soon be shouting "...the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!" (Revelation ‪11:15‬)

Christmas carols are not just songs of celebration; they are ancient songs of revolution. When we sing these scriptures, we are proclaiming the holy promises of God. The angels rejoice and the demons tremble when they hear these words rising up from our homes, our neighborhoods and our places of worship.

The "gentle Jesus meek and mild" was born to roar, and He's calling His people to roar with Him. As we witness the groaning of nations, the clashing of cultures and the crashing of governments, we will fear not, because this Child has been born to us.

We will fear not...because the Government will rest upon His shoulders.

We will fear not...because the gates of hell will not prevail against Him.

We will fear not...because He has overcome the world.

The Lamb has come, but the Lion is coming.

About this Plan

Paul Baloche - Christmas Worship Devotions

One of today’s most influential worship leaders and songwriters, Paul Baloche (Open The Eyes Of My Heart/A New Hallelujah) aims to make Christmas more than a season of nostalgia. He wants to make it a season of worship. With his albums, Christmas Worship (Volumes 1 & 2), Paul combines beloved carols with modern worship songs. With this plan, he examines the scriptural truths behind those songs, pointing our hearts to Jesus.
