Under the Shadow

DAY 4 OF 5

His Shadow Produces Peace

It's funny how during a crisis people tend to think about themselves. Uncertainty produces despair, and despair awakens the selfishness that is in the human heart.

But when we dwell in the shadow of the Most High there is no despair, but peace within.

Jesus is peace. He is the Prince of Peace, and if we take refuge in Him, His shadow will cover our lives and produce an incomprehensible, internal peace for this world. This is why it is so important that we not allow despair to steal our peace, guide our decisions, or limit our lives.

Because He has overcome, we too can overcome. In a world full of problems, challenges and storms, we can find peace, because peace is not an emotion, peace is a person, Jesus.

Are you anxious? Are you afraid of what might happen tomorrow?

Stand still for a moment and recognize who God is. Recognize that God is in control of every detail of your life, no matter how small, insignificant or impossible it may seem. Recognize that God is your Provider, your Healer, your Protector, your Savior, and the One who gives your life purpose.

John 14:27 is a passage that helps me make decisions in leadership when I don't know what to do. I do not become anxious or afraid, but I go forward with firm steps, walking in the peace that God brings to my life.

In these moments, as a church, it is good to be still and recognize that He is God. Let us trust that His peace will fill every space in our lives, and let us move forward, not in fear, but in confidence toward the glorious days He has in store for us.
