Sharing God: Reflections on 2 Corinthians 5:11-21

DAY 5 OF 7

DAILY SCRIPTURE

So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. (2 Corinthians 5:16a NIV)

A HEAVENLY PERSPECTIVE

As believers, we have the advantage of seeing life from a heavenly perspective. As we minister to the people around us, we can continue to grow in seeing things the way God does and partner with His perspective.

Many of the people we come across will never have truly understood how God feels about them, what He sees in them and what He knows they can become in connection with Him. Matthew 5:13-16 in The Message says this,

“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavours of this earth...

Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven."

You can be the one who calls out the God-colours in those around you! You can be someone who views people not from a worldly perspective, but in the way that God sees them. You can speak to them about their true significance, helping them to see their worth in God’s eyes. You can be someone who calls out what you sense God has placed in them. You can be a light who shines for God!

THOUGHTS FOR PRAYER AND REFLECTION

·  How could seeing people the way God sees them affect the way you interact with the people in your world?

·  Spend some time asking God to help you see the people in your world the way He does.

·  Ask God if there is someone in your life who needs encouragement. Is there something amazing that you can see God has placed in them? How can you encourage them in this?
