Growing in the dark
My wife grows herbs on our back porch, and seeing them grow inside a glass jar reminds me of the way God often works in us. You see, for any plant to grow, a seed has to be placed deep into the ground. You then cover the seed with earth so it’s in complete darkness where the weight of the soil puts pressure on the seed until it breaks open and new life begins to take root and grow. That new plant then searches for a way to break through the surface and find the sunlight.
Darkness. Pressure. Breaking. Searching. Are you in a dark place today? Are you facing pressures from work, school, family, friends? Do you feel like you’re about to crack? Does it feel like you're always searching for a break through?
I believe God is using your current circumstances to bring about new life in you, even if it doesn’t seem that way. As my friend Andy Stanley says; “Don’t interpret God’s silence as absence.” He is with you and is working to provide you with a break through that will bring you into the light.
