Real Hope: Thankfulness In Times Of UncertaintySample
FROM FEAR TO THANKFULNESS
2020 has been a year of real uncertainty – and we’re only about halfway through it!
Brushfires, floods, the COVID-19 crisis, and political and social upheaval have consumed our thoughts. The world is changing every day, and our hearts and minds are filled with worry and stress about what the future may hold for us and our loved ones.
In the midst of COVID-19 being classified as a pandemic, I found an article by Patrick Meyers that was quite challenging, describing fear in the following way:
Most of the time, fears come in one of two forms: being afraid of losing something you already have, or being afraid of not getting something that you want.
When we think back to the beginning of the panic that ensued after heightened media coverage of COVID-19, we recall how so many people found themselves purchasing ever-increasing amounts of toilet paper! This is a real-time example of panic.
And yet, in that panic, did we turn to God with thankfulness for what we already have? If in these moments we could simply move our minds to this, we could refocus and see the ways that our God of Peace is walking with us... even in times of uncertainty!
Why not come to God in prayer now, with love and thankfulness, and ask for His help? We can cry out to him. We can boldly ask Him to help us see more clearly His infinite love and His limitless care when everything around us seems to be scary and overwhelming.

About this Plan
In times of uncertainty how do you respond? All too often our response is fear, stress, anxiety, and selfishness. But there is a perspective that can shift our focus in the midst of these moments; a perspective that can turn our uncertainty into joy and thankfulness.
