Great Adventurers (Week 4)

DAY 5 OF 7

Day Five - God Way is Best

Welcome to our Great Adventurers Devotional! We are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey and look at some of the Great Adventurers in the Bible.

Jonah may have taken a long time to do what God asked him to do, but he did in the end.  Because Jonah did as God asked him and took God’s message, the whole of Nineveh stopped doing the bad things they had been doing!

READ:

'Jonah and the Big Fish' in the Beginners Bible (pages 257-264) or Jonah 1-3:10

The people of Nineveh listened to Jonah, said sorry to God for doing bad things, and God forgave them. This changed the people of Nineveh’s lives!

Jonah could only see what he thought he couldn’t do. He didn’t see or trust that God had gone before him and made a way for him to safely go to Nineveh to tell the people God’s message.

If Jonah had trusted God and remembered that God would provide everything he needed, his journey would have been very different!

We can learn from this: God is always good, always in control, and knows exactly what He is doing; all the time! God’s Way is Best!

ASK:

Have you ever been on a journey and the destination is a big surprise?

Make up a map (just like our Great Adventurers) where only you know where it leads.

Maybe there could be a wonderful surprise for whoever you give the map to?

Remember to ask your grownups to take some photos of you doing this and share them with us on Facebook and Instagram.

REMEMBER:

‘Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!”’ (Matthew 19:26)

SAY:

I’m an adventurer.

I am bold. I am strong with the word of the Lord.

I will follow wherever you lead.

I won’t stop. I’ve been set free.

In Jesus name, Amen!

About this Plan

Great Adventurers (Week 4)

In the Bible, we see that through ‘Great Adventurers’ God has changed the world around them for good. God can take the seemingly bad things and turn them for good. We will follow in the footsteps of these ‘Great Adventurers’ and see how God, through their boldness, changed the world around them! This week we’re looking at the story of Jonah and our memory verse in Matthew 19:26.
