Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice

“And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.” 1 Samuel‬ ‭15:22-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Obey the voice of the Lord. Obedience is better than sacrifice. In fact, disobedience breeds rebellion, and rebellion is as witchcraft. Choose to obey God, follow His Voice and depart from evil. Even stubbornness is as idolatry. When you exalt your way of thinking above God,  you’re choosing to exalt your will above His will. In 1 Samuel 15:22-23, King Saul did just that — he exalted his will above the will of God. 

1 Samuel‬ ‭15:22-23‬ ‬‬ declares, “Samuel said, Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim (household good luck images). Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.” ‭‭Disobedience will strip you from your God-given authority. According to Genesis 1:26, we are made in His image and His likeness — we are not God, we are His creation. We are not the Creator. We are to submit to His word, follow His instruction, and obey His command. 

Submission is better than sacrifice. When you reject His authority — like Saul, you’ll forfeit any God-given authority. Focus on God. Submit to His way of doing things and your house will not shipwreck.
