I Belong To God

Big Daddy Weave was so privileged to travel to Cambodia with World Vision in early 2015. All of us were wrecked by what Cambodia has been through. When we returned, I met a new friend with a ministry there who told me of a young man abandoned by his family. One day, he came to know that he was a son, a son of the living God. He began to sing on a guitar, just playing one chord and shouting at the top of his voice, saying ‘I belong to God! I belong to God!’

Every person, no matter what they’ve been through - and we’ve all been through stuff that threatens to define us - can receive the Lord and receive this amazing idea that we are not who we used to be. Who we are now are sons and daughters of the living God. There’s a line in the song that came out of that in response.

‘I belong to God. I belong to Jesus. Saved by your power, bought with your blood. I’ll say to the darkness you don’t own me anymore. I belong to God.’

And man, that’s a confession in my life that is so powerful.
