Lamb of God

DAY 2 OF 7

Spotless

Jesus was not one of many lambs of God that you would bring to the temple. He is the Lamb of God! When this truth was spoken in the Jewish culture, it was difficult for them to understand. All along their history, they had taken millions of lambs to be sacrificed to cover up their sins.

So, why is Jesus the Lamb of God? Jesus is spotless. He is a Man without defect. He is perfect. When you sin, there has to be a payment. How do you pay back to make it right with God? God is holy, yet we have sinned. Do you give Him money? Do you promise never to do it again and hope He ignores your past actions? Well, the answer is no. You do not pay with money or promise you will never do it again. For our sins to be forgiven, there was a blood sacrifice from the perfect and spotless Lamb, Jesus Christ. You go to the Son of God. You believe that He not only is the Lamb of God but your Savior.

Jesus is not an animal from the farm. He is the Son of God who stepped into the path of our destruction and took our sin upon Himself. As a follower of Christ, you must trust His purity. The book of Peter tells us that we were rescued from the useless life we knew, not by such things as money or material stuff that does not last, but by the precious blood of Christ—the spotless and innocent Lamb.

You are redeemed with the precious blood of Christ, a Lamb without defect and without blemish. That’s a huge, momentous statement. Jesus is not a prophet who happened to come along. He’s not just a moral teacher or a good man. He is the Payment and the Lamb that is slain for your sins. It’s His purity, not your purity, that saves you. It is not about trying to get the sin-scales to even out your good and bad. Jesus took your punishment when He paid for your sins on the cross.

About this Plan

Lamb of God

Through the Old Testament, we learn that people would take their lambs as a sacrificial offering to cover up their sins. Jesus came to take away the sin of the world. As followers of Christ, if we place our trust and faith in Him, our sins are forgiven and forgotten. We now can live righteously through Jesus!
