DAY 4 OF 5

  DAY 4

DEVOTIONAL – PERSEVERANCE

We looked at Purpose and Production. Today let us look at another aspect that will help us live with intention.

The third issue is Perseverance

Finishing strong is vital. Can we keep the fire burning after 2 years, 5 years, 10 years 20, 40 years? Even after being a Christian for over forty years, I realise that there is nothing that I can take for granted.

If I do not stay connected and rooted in Jesus, my spiritual fervour can wither off and die. Every new day is an opportunity for new mercies and grace. I cannot live on last year’s promises or answers to prayer. They are there as reminders that God is faithful. They stir up faith but cannot take its place.

The way we awaken purpose and enable a produce is by working it into our routine. That is perseverance. So what does my daily routine look like? It is good to make time to be alone with God a priority; to read and meditate on His life giving Word. His Word is life-giving seed that is planted in our hearts and when well nurtured, will produce a great harvest of righteousness. Remember – the reward is hidden in the routine

Jesus reminds us that apart from Him we can do nothing and we cannot bear lasting fruit. On what are we building our lives? With what are we building our lives?

We need to keep Jesus at the centre of all we do. He is our cornerstone and our example of perseverance. Perseverance is not only about what and how we do something but also what we choose to not do.  In simple words a strong “no” make for a stronger “Yes”. Many people tried to grab Jesus’ attention and tell him where to go and whom to meet. He was steadfast in that He only did what He saw the Father doing. He persevered to finish His mission on earth. Jesus was sent to the earth for a purpose. If he had to learn to persevere under trials and temptations, we do too. However, we can take heart because He has gone before us and made a way.

About this Plan

The Future Will Write Your History

As Christ-followers we are all called to make an impact on our generation and leave a legacy behind. It is intrinsic in the Great Commission. A legacy is left in people, not institutions. We hope this 5-day devotional written by Navaz D'Cruz will inspire you to begin building toward a legacy that will live beyond you.
