When the stress of the world is too much to take, there’s a place I can run to. 

What comes to your mind when you think about God? Seriously. Pause and think about that for a minute. It’s a question you probably don’t think about often, and yet so much of your life hangs in the balance of your answer. Do you view God as distant or close? Do you view Him as frustrated or understanding? You may not realize it, but what you think about God determines how you handle life. 

The reality is life isn’t always good. Friends fail you. You screw up. Hearts get broken. Parents get divorced. The stress of this world really can be too much to take. Straight facts. 

So, when stress runs high where do you run? 

If you think God is waiting on the edge of His seat to punish you, you’ll attempt to clean up the messes in your life alone. If you believe God is for you and has your back, you will run to Him when life hits you hard. 

When you trust that not only is God good, but He is good to you personally, your worship becomes a safe place where you can sing with confidence, “I know I will be safe here in your sight. Everything, everything’s alright.” 

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NIV)
