Don't Miss the Moment: A 5 Day Guide to Embracing God's Plan

DAY 2 OF 5

The sooner you learn that every door is not a God door, the more prepared you will be for the ones that are. Good opportunities do not always equate to God opportunities. Unlike God, we are a limited resource, and if we are not careful we will find ourselves in the trap of overcommitment. There is nothing worse than finding out you have an overdrawn account with a negative balance. I’m not limiting that to a bank account located in a building on the corner where you conduct your financial transactions. I’m also referring to the many bank accounts we must manage in the inner chamber of who we are, such as our faith, peace, compassion, relationship, and love banks. Please trust me when I tell you that when you spend yourself in places that matter the least, it will cost you in places that matter the most. Being prepared to differentiate between what matters and what doesn’t, what is good and what is God, is vital to managing the success he wants to send in your direction.

An important thing to remember is that the timing of God and the grace of God go together. Anything we do outside of his timing is something we don’t have the grace for, and anything we do outside of grace is usually exhausting and fruitless. Meaning we will have no harvest to show for our labor. A great indicator that you are in God’s timing and surrounded by his grace is fruit. Being fruitful should be the heartbeat of every believer. In fact, it’s one of the first commands God gave to man. The very first words he ever spoke to Adam were, “Be fruitful, and multiply” (Gen. 1:22 kjv). Nothing about this is a suggestion. God expects us to bear fruit. Not only fruit, but more fruit, and much fruit. He himself is a God of more than enough, and if we are his children, made in his likeness and his image, then we too should be mindful of his desire for us to bear “much fruit.”

There is a difference between being busy and being fruitful. If we’re not careful, we can become so busy being “busy” that we fail at being fruitful. We sacrifice the calling we have in different areas of life to chase the opportunity that wasn’t God’s best for us in the first place.
