DAY 3 OF 7

Time to Train

Ready:

“Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:8

Set:

Tim Tebow is one of most well-known athletes in sports. For Tim to be a professional athlete, he had to train several hours a day/week. Physical training takes up countless hours a week for him; however, training for godliness outweighs training for sports. When you look at Tim Tebow’s life, you may see how much more of a Christian he is than an athlete. Tim understands training allows him to be a strong athlete, but he has a deeper understanding that training for godliness allows him to be an even stronger Christian and disciple.

How you live is based on the condition of your heart. Tim Tebow lives a good life not because he was a professional athlete, but because he trains his heart every day for Christ. His physical training allows him to play strong and healthy. Godly training keeps him focused on truth, stable on solid foundation, and the ability to be a light to an entire organization and audience.

Jesus was the best when it came to godly training. He lived out His training; He slipped away to meet with God; He left the crowds behind and found solitude; He woke up early; prayed constantly; loved others; served others; humbled Himself; valued Scripture; and He taught others. If Jesus needed to spend His days training in godliness, how much more do you?

Training for an upcoming season is important and crucial, but training for eternity takes first place. Luckily, God has already written you a training program, and it is one that has more benefits than any other you’ve tried. Go and train in God’s Word and principles today!

Go:

1. Have there been times or seasons where you cannot physically train?

2. How does it look to train for godliness?

3. How did Jesus train during His time on Earth?

Workout:

  • 1 Corinthians 11:1
  • Luke 9:23-24

Overtime:

“God, thank You for allowing me to physically train, but help me train in godliness. Guide me in how to train my heart. Amen.”
