LIVING WITH CERTAINTY IN UNCERTAIN TIMES

These are some of the most uncertain and unsteady times that any of us have ever lived through. From a virus named COVID-19 to roller-coaster stock markets, cancellations of schools, and the 2020 Olympics...life has felt anything but steady and certain. 

Certainty is defined as having confidence, freedom from doubt, and to be assured. 

The bigger question is, confidence and assurance in what? Or more accurately, in who? If culture and seasons are always changing, then our best hope, our only hope is in the person of Jesus Christ. 

Now, what we know about God is that His nature, character, and promises do not change. And because of that reality, here are two truths we can be absolutely sure about. First, we know for certain that God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). 

Secondly, we know for certain that Jesus laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for one another (1 John 3:16).

Although there is uncertainty in the world, take comfort in knowing with certainty that God's love and His promises will never fail!

Prayer: Father, the more life changes, the more You remain the same. Thank you for the certainty of who You are, of Your purposes, and Your holy presence. May I be that reflection of You to those around me today who are feeling rattled and unsteady. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
