4 Keys to a Vibrant Prayer Life

DAY 2 OF 4

KEY #2 – HE HEARS YOU

I think it’s a great idea to keep a prayer journal of things you’ve asked for and people you’ve prayed for, so you can look back and see how God faithfully answered you. It will encourage you to keep praying! There’s really nothing more exciting than seeing your prayers answered.

The Bible says you can have utter confidence that God is listening to you when you pray. Psalm 40:1 says, “I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry,” and Psalm 116:2 says, “Because He has inclined His ear to me…I will call upon Him as long as I live.”

When I read that God “inclined to me” I picture Him leaning forward from His throne, bending down toward me so that He can hear every word, every prayer. The New Living Translation of the Bible says it this way in Psalm 116:2: “Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” Picture Him bending down to hear you. That’s how closely He’s paying attention—that’s how much He wants to hear what you have to say.

In the New Testament, 1 John 5:14-15 says:

This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

How can you know that God is answering your prayers and paying attention to your situation? Because He hears you! He’s paying close attention—the Bible says so.

Imagine what it would be like to pray to a God who wasn’t listening, who didn’t hear you. That would be a hopeless feeling, wouldn’t it? You couldn’t believe your prayers were being answered. Some people feel that way. They feel as if God isn’t listening to them or paying any attention to them.

But the Bible shows us that isn’t true, doesn’t it? We can have confidence that He’ll answer us every time we call on Him or ask for His direction. God’s got you covered.
