A Step Of Faith

DAY 4 OF 8

Faith In The Goodness Of God

Have you ever stopped to think about what God is really like? We can learn a lot about what God is like from today’s passage. After receiving her miraculous healing from Jesus, the woman discovers she cannot stay hidden in the crowd. Jesus realised that healing power had gone out from Him and was searching for the person who was healed. The woman falls on her knees before Jesus and tells her story.

How would Jesus respond to the woman? After all, she was ‘unclean’, she had interrupted Jesus on His way to help Jairus’ daughter, and she hadn’t even asked Him to be healed, she just went right ahead and touched His robe! Would Jesus be mad? Would He shame her in front of everyone for what she had done?

Jesus’ response is incredible, and it reveals so much about God’s heart towards us. The first word He says to her is “Daughter”. Just that word alone must have meant so much to someone who had been a social outcast for such a long time. In the middle of all the chaos, Jesus gives her His attention, accepts her as family, champions her faith, assures her of her healing and blesses her.

We can know with certainty that God is good, that He loves us, and that He is always available to those who come to Him in faith.

Questions

  1. With a large crowd following Jesus, many people would have touched Him. What was different about what the woman did?
  2. In what ways might Jesus’ response to this woman surprise those in the crowd?
  3. By coming forward to talk to Jesus, what did this woman receive that she wouldn’t have otherwise?
  4. What does Jesus identify as the reason the woman receives her healing? Why is this important?
  5. What can we learn from this passage about how Jesus responds to us?

About this Plan

A Step Of Faith

Have you ever stopped to think about faith? And what is faith anyway? Does faith actually make a difference to our lives? The Bible has a lot to say about faith. Through exploring the story of Jairus and the sick woman in Mark 5:21-43, we will discover how Jesus responded to their faith, how powerful and loving He is, and investigate how faith in Jesus can impact our lives today.
