DAY 3 OF 10

Day 3 - If You Don’t Like The Weather…

Several years ago, I spent a summer in Colorado. Whenever the topic of weather came up, it was common to hear a local say with a smile, “If you don’t like the weather in Colorado, just wait a minute.” But then, I went to Florida and guess what the locals said about the weather there? Yep. “If you don’t like the weather in Florida, just wait a minute.” In my travels across the country, I have learned that they say that all over the country. The weather, in general, tends to change unexpectedly but we know the weather isn’t the only thing that changes on a dime.

Our political climates change.

Our circumstances change.

Our moods change.

Our relationships with others change.

Our health can change.

Our financial statuses change.

Our behaviors and choices change.

Other peoples’ opinions change.

So, what can we lean on? What can we count on? Is there anything in this life that we can be certain of enough to stand on without fear of change? The Bible promises us that we can face an ever-changing world knowing that we have a never-changing Savior. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8) This is home base. This is the solid rock on which we can build our lives. He is who He says He is. Well then, who is He? It is so important to dig into Scripture and learn more about who Jesus is because the more we know about who He is, the more we can rest in knowing He will remain all of those things regardless of the changes going on in and around our lives. One of the names given to our Savior is “Immanuel,” which means “God with us.” So, let’s apply the promise we’ve been given that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. Then, that means He is WITH US, yesterday, today, and forever.
