DAY 9 OF 10

THE PEACEMAKER

One statement from the sermon in the mount that Jesus said is, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” For all of us who have received Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior and are born again, we become the children of God. However, our attitude is proof that we are the children of God.

David chose to seek peace rather than make Saul, whose heart was filled with jealously and hatred, to be his enemy. Even though David had the second chance to kill Saul, he did not use the opportunity, as he wanted peace between the two of them.

Jesus teaches us not to repay evil with evil. We are to repay evil with goodness. What is our attitude towards those who hate us, underestimate us or become so jealous with us? They could be our parents, our parents in law, our brothers and sisters or even our colleagues. We will not be able to do this with our own strength; we need Holy Spirit to help us be calm and patient.

The Holy Spirit will enable us to love those who do evil things to us. David always had a conversation with the Lord when he was depressed. He always put his hope in the Lord. The revenge belongs to the Lord; our part is just to be still.

The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.
