DO NOT LOSE FAITH
Losing faith is a serious sin before God. The Israelites lost their faith in God and therefore they rejected the perfect plan of God. Even though they had experienced many miracles from God—how God led them out of Egypt with His outstretched arm—they did not trust God. Their ignorance blinded their eyes so they could not see God’s might. Why did they think God could not make them possess the land of Canaan? This was actually an insult to God. This story has to be a reminder for us, that our lack of faith in God is a rejection of His plan and an insult to His glory.
Moses took the role as mediator—to stand in the gap between God and His people. Moses pleaded for the salvation of His people, while keeping the honor of God’s Glory. He didn’t want God to punish the Israelites. They didn’t realize that the main reason why they couldn’t enter Canaan was because of their lack of trust to God. In Moses' opinion, God’s Glory was revealed by fulfilling His promises—to bring the Israelites into the Promised Land. Therefore, Moses asked God to show His mercy and compassion to the Israelites. Moses honored God, as well as loved his nation.
As believers that have received salvation from Jesus Christ, we need to follow Moses' example. Not only by trusting in God’s promises, but also in being peace-makers and faithful encouragers to our fellow believers. At times, God allows us to meet someone whose faith is down or has even died. As servants of God it is our duty to lift up their faith with constructive prayers so they will not fall into sin and lose their faith in God.
Where there is FAITH in Jesus, miracles happen.
