Reminders for Life

DAY 6 OF 6

The Power of God’s Timing

Sometimes God puts us in places and positions that we just don’t understand. Maybe you’re in a single season, and you don’t know why. Maybe you got a job or a college acceptance from somewhere unexpected. Maybe you heard God tell you to stay when you already had your bags packed. Maybe God sent you into a wilderness that you don’t feel ready or equipped for.

Whatever situation or season you find yourself in, you may wonder why God has you there.

Do you know what Mordecai would tell you? It’s “for just such a time as this.” (Esther 4:14 NIV).

Mordecai is the relative and guardian of Esther, who you may know as the queen who saved her people.

In Esther 3, a decree planning the annihilation of the Jews is sent out. In the next chapter, Mordecai is torn up and in mourning, but he sends word to Esther, asking her to plead with the king.

Esther was skeptical because you can only go before the king when invited. Mordecai, in reply, said this: “… Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” Esther 4:14 NLT

God isn’t a God of coincidence, and like we learn in Ecclesiastes 3, there’s a time for everything. And God’s timing is perfect.

So maybe you’re at that job, struggling with your health, or in this weird position because you’re the solution to someone else’s problem. Sometimes we get so caught up in the details, our own master plans, or the “if only’s” and “what could have beens” when we should be focused on how God can get glory out of the season of life we’re in.

In what area of your life do you need to trust God’s timing?

Pray: God, thank You for walking with me and before me. I know You have a plan for my life and for ___. Please give me a spirit full of patience. I trust You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
