Save the DateSample
Jesus was asking His friends to stay awake with Him while He prayed, knowing how the next few hours would go. Even though what He went through was different than what we might be facing in our lives, the struggle is similar. Sometimes we know the right thing to do, but still have a hard time doing it. It can be challenging to do the thing we know we need to do. It was even that way for Jesus!
So, when faced with temptation, what do we do? Watch and pray. That word “watch” means to pay attention. Being aware of what might lead to poor decisions is one of the most important things we can do to help ourselves avoid temptation. And when faced with temptation? We pay attention to the Spirit inside of us. We pray, asking God to use His Spirit to come alongside us as we work to do what is right and wise.
This week, work on developing the habit of paying attention to where you might be faced with temptation. Then, pray and ask God for help when you’re in it.
