How to Overcome Worry

DAY 1 OF 6

More than a galaxy

Science states the existence of galaxies—huge collections of stars, gas, and dust. There are millions to trillions of stars in a galaxy. The earth is located in the galaxy called the Milky Way. There are still many other galaxies such as Andromeda, Sombrero, and other galaxies that cannot be revealed without space telescopes.

Our eyes and minds are indeed very limited in the ability to capture and understand such capacity and dimension. However, even without this understanding, from it, we can still learn the concept of the Great God. If God could make such awesome heavens and earth, the sun and moon, the stars and their constellations, then He must be greater than any of these creations. If this is the case, don’t you think that He is also greater than all our problems?

Notice that God made all of these extraordinary things ONLY by His words. Every created thing was made from His words. This is awesome! The understanding that He is a great God challenges us to believe in Him.

Try reading an astronomy book or searching on the web about the size of the universe. Our understanding of the universe will make our faith grow. We will increasingly believe that He who sustains the universe will also sustain us, His children. We will no longer need to worry about many things because we know and believe in the One who sustains us.

Reflection:

1. Are you often worried and afraid of the future?

2. Does understanding the size of our God help you?

Put it into practice: Look at the horizon! Learn about our God! Why are we still worried about our lives?

About this Plan

How to Overcome Worry

Worry is the enemy of faith. Worry can close our eyes of faith, allowing depression and defeat to come into believers’ lives. God provides His word so that every believer can overcome every worry and replace it with a story of victory. Through this "Walking with Jesus" devotional, may all of us have greater faith and are enabled to drive out every worry with the power of His word.
