Learn To Pray For Your Family

DAY 3 OF 7

Your loved ones are safe

When two young marrieds create a family, they begin to weave the fabric that will make up their home. Of all the threads they weave together in their young home, prayer is by far the most important.

During our 28 years of marriage, Muriel and I have been through many trials and endured quite a few battles. We’ve also experienced the God of miracles and won great victories with Him at our side. Prayer is, without a doubt, one of the foundations of our marriage and personal lives with God. We have been blessed with three incredible children. The joy they bring us is immense, but like all parents, we’ve also known our share of worry. Yet, we’ve never doubted God or His guiding hand...we’ve always put everything into His hands.

The author of the book What Happens When We Pray For Our Families writes this: “From the time our first child, Jan, started kindergarten to when our last child, Kurt, graduated from high school, Chris and I prayed with them at the door, sending each off with the Lord protecting and guiding. It was so reassuring to our children and us that they weren’t going out to meet the world alone but going out under God’s care. It gave confidence, quelling the fear of what they might encounter. Yet it was always Chris and I—the parents—praying for our children.”

The Lord is the One who is taking care of you, your children if you have any, and the people who matter to you. You can never constantly be with your loved ones to protect them from danger, but God is. Let’s read Psalm 121:2-5: “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.” (the Bible, NLT)

What if you released your children and everyone who matters to you...to Him? Put off the garment of fear and put on the garment of prayer! “Lord, I’m worrying about (name the people). I’d like to be with them every possible moment, but it’s impossible. However, what’s impossible for me is possible for You! That’s why I turn to You. I release my family and loved ones to You. Protect and keep them every day of their lives. Thank You for Your love, grace, and faithfulness! In Jesus’s name, amen.”

About this Plan

Learn To Pray For Your Family

In this 7-day reading plan, I’d like to talk with you about family. It is, unfortunately, being targeted more and more by the enemy. In the face of this, the Lord has given us a powerful weapon… Prayer! In this plan, you will learn all about this.
