Herod accomplished his most aggressive building program in Jerusalem. As a Roman province, roads into the magnificent city were likely stone-paved according to Roman Empire standards.
Once, Jesus traveled into Jerusalem on the northeast road that led from the Mount of Olives. An ecstatic crowd flocked to escort him in, praising God with a loud voice. But some jealous Pharisees wanted them shushed. Jesus retorted, “If they were silent, the very stones would cry out!”
Now, that would be a sight to hear.
Let’s be children of God whose praise of him cannot be silenced.
