Eternity Is Now

DAY 5 OF 5

If you've attended a wedding, you may have heard this passage before. Paul’s description of love is one of the most famous passages in all the Bible. What you may not have heard is what Paul says next. After Paul’s masterful description of love, he says, “Pursue love” or, in other translations, "love should be your highest goal.” In 1 John, we are told that God is love. So, you could re-read Paul's challenge as “pursue Jesus” or “Jesus should be your highest goal.”

Is this your goal in life: pursuing Jesus?

As we pursue Jesus and allow Him to transform our lives, we become more like Him. We begin to take on qualities of the eternal kind of life: love, joy, peace, patience, etc.

The question is, how are you doing in this?

To gauge this, read today's passage again and replace love with Jesus. Paul’s famous passage on love gives us a beautiful picture of what Jesus is like. Now, read the passage one last time. This time replace love with your name. Does this describe you? Thank God for all the areas where it does describe you and ask Him to grow you in those areas that still have room for improvement.

As you follow Jesus and become more like Him, may this description of love become a description of you.

Day 4

About this Plan

Eternity Is Now

Many people's version of Christianity has everything to do with the future but little to do with today. Jesus cares about your tomorrow, but he also cares about your today. Eternity isn't just a quantity of life, but a quality of life that can be experienced here and now. Eternity doesn’t start when we die. Eternity is now.
