DAY 7 OF 12

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

So many of us try to get ahead in life. We work hard, and we strive in vain to get ahead. Sometimes our efforts pay off, and other times we find ourselves coming up short. The Bible teaches us that contentment is found through pursuing God, and when you do, you will be given great gain.

We cannot find the peace of contentment without God. Our human nature will always want more; it will always compare. We, as Christians, must be diligent in seeking after God, asking him to fill us with His Holy Spirit. We must submit our will to God and allow the fruits of the Holy Spirit to pour out of our lives as we submit ourselves to God: the fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. (Galatians 5:22) If we abide in Christ and all of these fruits flow out of us, we will be content in life. We will have peace and “great gain”.

Father,

I want to know you, and I want to be a good mom. I want to be content with my life, with my possessions, and with my family. God, create in me a pure heart. I submit my life to you. Fill me with your Holy Spirit; fill me with your love.
