Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
God’s Mission
1 Kings 21:19-20
“Say to him. ‘This is what the Lord says: Have you not murdered a man and seized his property?’ Then say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: ‘In the place where dogs licked up Naboth’s blood, dogs will lick up your blood – yes, yours!’ Ahab said to Elijah, ‘So you have found me, my enemy!’”
Can God trust his words into our mouth?
Ahab had just abused his authority as king; he killed a man who was innocent and took his land from him. Elijah’s message to Ahab could have cost him his life also. However, Elijah valued God’s word more than his own life.
Do we also value God’s word?
Will we confront sin in our own lives and love others enough to obey the Lord when he prompts us to confront sin in their lives?
Have our spiritual lives and discipleship become so privatized that we no longer talk to one another about sin?
Elijah had found his life in God so that God’s business became his business.
What’s holding us back from being God’s messengers in whatever circumstances he invites us?
Lord Jesus, your mission is my mission. I repent for fearing man this day; I thank you that perfect love drives out fear.
