Every time I read Jeremiah 29:11, it seems as if a blanket of supernatural peace and blessed assurance is gently wrapped around the relentless, cold questions and the nagging, fractious issues of my soul. There is intrinsic power in knowing that the God of the universe not only created me but also has a plan for me. He didn’t create me and then leave me to desperately try to discover some significance for my existence. He wisely and brilliantly mapped out the plan for my life first—and then He created me. First came God’s conceptualization of me in His great purposes, and then came the actualization of me in His grand creation.

Your life, like mine, is not random. Our Creator has definite plans for every single one of our days—and He shares them with us in His Word and by His Spirit. God’s preplanning for your unmatched life was thorough, complete, and purposeful. He contemplated who you would become and how He would be able to use you, making a list of all of the people who would be impacted by your influence.

You are who you are by divine plan and eternal calling. You must never dismiss your gifts, talents, interests, and deepest desires as unimportant or disposable. You were created under divine authority and supervision, and every cell in your body was crafted with care, love, and attention to the minutest of details.

My friend, let me quickly remind you that when you walked onto the stage of history, you were no inconsequential event! God created you with the same tender care and eternal value with which He created Adam and Eve. You were designed in the heart of God for such a time as this!

Think about what it means that God strategically decided to plant your life on earth at this moment in history so that you would seek Him with every breath and fiber of your being. This is a grand and consuming purpose that should never be ignored or discounted. You are here to discover who God is, in all of His unfathomable goodness. And, you are here to share that discovery with those with whom you share the stage of history. There is no grander or more significant reason to live than that!
