Running With Vision

DAY 5 OF 5

Positivity

I learned a lesson early on in my running that our mindset is more crucial than anything else.

More times than not, if we end up quitting or skipping a run because we “feel” tired, we are letting our bodies control our mindset. Likewise, more times than not, we accomplish something because we believe in ourselves and have a mindset of positivity.

One of my favorite quotes is from General George S. Patton who was also a 1912 Olympian: “Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired.”

I don’t always want to go run. But it’s pretty incredible that if I just change my mindset, I can get through anything. I’ve seen a drastic difference in how I feel if I speak positivity to myself throughout a run as opposed to nothing or let my mind drift to negativity or tiredness. “I am strong, I am fast, and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” I’ve said that hundreds of times on my runs when I didn’t “feel” strong and let me tell you, it matters!

We act like who we say we are. If we tell ourselves we can’t do it, guess what? We won’t do it. If we tell ourselves we can, you better believe you’ll be putting up a fight to accomplish what you’ve set out to do. Speak truth and positivity into your life and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish!

About this Plan

Running With Vision

God speaks to us in many different ways. As a runner, I get a unique perspective on the world and how He sees us. God is pursuing you in more ways than you can imagine, and He will speak to your heart the way he uniquely created you to understand.
