[Difference Makers] Harvest

DAY 4 OF 7

Jesus Our Leader

Moved with compassion for the crowds, Jesus says they are weary and worn out; they are sheep without a shepherd. People without a leader do not know their purpose. They do not know where they are going, what to do, or where to go.

If you do not have direction, you will wander into fields where you should not go. That is why we ask, in the Lord’s Prayer, for Him to forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. We have walked into the wrong field. We have begun to feast on what was not ours to feast on. We have trespassed across a boundary line.

Jesus said the crowds were sheep without a shepherd. They did not have a leader. He stepped forward, as the Messiah, to say He was their leader. He was not chosen by the Sadducees or the Pharisees but by God, the Father.

God sets up the government, the church, and the home. He sets up authorities and establishes laws. We must respect the leaders with authority in our society. We must honor them, and stand behind them, and pray for them. When there is an election coming up, whether it is to elect the mayor or the president, we must decide what kind of people we want to elect. Will it be a leader with some good ideas, or a leader who is also following Jesus?

God is the Supreme Leader, but what we have done is remove God as leader. We are in chaos because we do not know who were following. But God will not be mocked: we reap what we sow. Leaderless equals purposeless. We have this chaos and confusion. We have racial issues, moral issues, security issues, and all sorts of things. But when you fall in love with Jesus, you realize the color of your skin does not matter. It can be black, brown, white, or even blue or purple! It does not matter; what matters is the soul and what God is doing to change it. God does not look at the exterior; He looks at the heart. If you want to relieve racial tension, get your eyes on Jesus.

Leaderless equals purposeless. Difference makers have a Leader. They have a purpose. To be a difference maker, make sure you follow Jesus.

Pray: God, help me to follow You.
