MISSION TRIP PREPARATION: DAY ONE
Effective ministry starts with our character – who we are and how we behave. For this, we refer to the idea of being “NICER” as a reminder.

As the video explained, the five letters in the word NICER outline 5 key characteristics to living out our Christian faith at work:
N = No compromises
I = Integrity
C = Compassionate
E = Excellent work
R = Responsible to others
These principles were drawn directly from the Bible, as summarized in today’s readings, and give us a simple guide to follow as we go through our working day:
Just be NICER.™
To help you prepare for your MISSION TRIP, write the words “Be NICER” at the top of a sticky note, with the letter-by-letter explanations below that. Include the Bible references from today’s readings on the sticky note too.
Now, post the sticky note where you will see it each and every day.
Then, reflect on one or more of the characteristics as you go through your day – taking a look at the start of each day, any break or between-meeting times that you may have, and before or after lunch.
Pay special attention to any areas that you know you’re not too good at, and pray for God to strengthen you there.
Living and working in a way that bears good witness to the Christian principles behind your faith is very important to an effective MISSION TRIP.
And being NICER at your work is a great way to start!
If you haven’t completed the study plan around the guideword “NICER” yet, then consider delaying your MISSION TRIP by a week while you go see what God has for you there. Details on that study plan are provided at the bottom of this devotional.
PRAYER
Lord, I want to be an effective witness for you. I pray that my life might demonstrate your character to others in a way that bring glory to you. Help me to be “NICER” to all I meet today. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Do the “homework” of writing out the words “Be NICER” and the meaning behind each letter on a sticky note. Post it somewhere easy to spot in your workspace.
