When You Love A Prodigal

DAY 1 OF 5

God Loves Through Us

We need God's help. We cannot do life alone. This is especially true when it comes to loving those who hurt us. Our natural state is that we are broken people apart from God. Pain and fear can make us lash out. We can be selfish, angry, and short-tempered, though we want to be gracious and loving. Through God and through God only can we truly love others. Judy Douglass describes how God gives us what we need to love others when it seems impossible to do so.
Listen to Judy
God does not expect us to be able to do everything on our own. As Judy said, He gives us the love He has for others so that it will flow from us to them. God has the ability to love others unconditionally when we cannot. He wants us to let go of what we think we need so that He can give us what we actually need to love others. God can transform your relationships. It starts when we ask Him to love through us.

Apply

  • Think of a moment when you were angry or impatient with someone. How can asking God to love through you change a similar situation in the future?
  • Is there a relationship in your life that you need God to transform? Take a moment and ask God to give you strength to love that person.
Day 2
