MOTION: Living Beyond

DAY 4 OF 10

LIVING BEYOND: What I Know

Despite my situation, I have peace because I know God is in control.

If you asked someone to describe a mountain range, they would use words like vast, beautiful, refreshing and peaceful. However, if you were to ask a mountain climber to do the same thing, they might  describe it very differently. They would probably use words like challenging, strenuous, exhausting, uncertain.

Sometimes life can feel this way.  We know God has incredible promises for our lives, but we feel paralyzed by what’s happening to us or around us. Maybe you’ve been climbing for so long that you don’t even know which way is up. You’re exhausted in your waiting and everything around you tells you to give up.

The Bible promises God will work all things for your good and His glory. When life doesn’t look the way we expected, Psalms tells us to wait on the Lord.  The word wait is not passive or idle, but actually  means to entwine yourself as one with the Lord.

God does not need you to figure everything out. He simply needs you to take one more step closer to Him. His promise is to meet you where you are and carry you further than you ever thought you would go.

Climbing a mountain develops something in you that you could never obtain just by observing. In the same way, the process to God’s promises develops a deep friendship with God that could only be obtained in the waiting.  It’s in the process that He builds our faith, giving us confident assurance of things hoped for but not yet seen.

About this Plan

MOTION: Living Beyond

This devotional is inspired by Motion Worship’s song, BEYOND, and is meant to help take you on a path to experience the presence and power of God’s friendship in your life. But, you will only get out what you put in. So lean in, and invite the Holy Spirit to show you which areas of your life He is waiting for you to surrender.
