Stained Glass: Eve's Story

DAY 5 OF 6

The Heartbreak of God

For You

When Adam and Eve ate the apple, everything changed. Their perfect relationship with God was gone. No longer did they run to meet God as they heard Him walking through the garden. They hid. They hid from God. They hid from their loving creator who wanted only joy for them. The separation was real. No longer would God and His children walk together in the mornings. Imagine being forever separated from your child and you will begin to understand the heartbreak of God. Sin is a separator. It keeps us from a relationship with the God who loves us more than we can know. But know this: God will never give up on you.

For Your Child

Ask this Question: How do you think it makes God feel when we push Him away? (spend a few minutes discussing the answers)

God has feelings and emotions just like you and me. God loves, He can be disappointed, He can become frustrated, and He can be hurt. When Adam and Eve sinned, it broke God’s heart. He was sad. Something very precious to Him was lost. This is what our sin does to our relationship with God. It keeps us separated from Him and it breaks His heart. But God did not want us to be separate from Him. He loves us too much. That’s why He sent Jesus to save us from our sins.
