30 Days In The Gospel Of Mark

DAY 14 OF 30

Thought:

Jesus healed people because He loved them. He had compassion on the blind man and healed him. Another reason Jesus did miracles was to show the people around Him who He was (and is)—the Son of God. After Jesus heals the blind man, we see Peter make an important statement about Jesus’ identity, or who Jesus is. Many people had different ideas about Jesus. But the people closest to Him (His disciples, such as Peter) knew who He really was. Jesus is the Messiah, the promised Savior. He is the Son of God, Who came to deliver His people from their sins.

1. Did the people ask for Jesus’ help with the blind man?

2. How does Jesus respond to the blind man?

3. Who did some people think Jesus was?

4. Who did the disciples say Jesus was?

Engage:

Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior who was promised to the Israelites in the Old Testament. They waited a long time for Him to come. He was not what they expected but He was far better. He was exactly what they, and we, needed. As our Savior, Jesus saves us from sin, death, and evil. Write a thank you letter to Jesus praising Him for how He saved us through the cross and resurrection (when He came back to life).

Deeper Waters:

Jesus took time to help the people around Him because of who He is—the Messiah. Because of who we are—followers of Jesus—we should also help the people around us. Who is one person you can serve this week?
