Failure Is An Option

DAY 2 OF 3

FAIL WITHOUT FAIL

The Bible is clear about our value and worth. It does not come from what we can do or achieve but from who we are. We are made in the image of God. This is what defines our worth. The problem begins when we begin we fall into the trap of trying to prove our worth through our achievements. The confusing world in which we live in often drives us to finding our value and worth in the 4 notorious A’s: Achievements, Abilities, Assets and Appearance. Negative stereotypes of who we should be or look like have caused a lot of damage to our sense of self-worth. But if we learn to be secure in God’s pronouncement of our worth we can move on with confidence because He remains that constant portion of who we are.

Now that we have settled on our worth, what about our life goals and pursuits? It is true that we need to have goals in life. We need to discover our life’s purpose and live out our full potential. But that cannot happen if we are afraid to fail. Most of us are so reluctant to try something just because we are afraid to fail. We say to ourselves, “I can’t do it’, “I’m not good enough!”. The secret is that we can never be good enough at something we haven’t tried. To have tried means to have failed. To have failed means to have become better at it or having realized we need to try something else. Whether it is sport or music or academics, we all have to try to discover our potential. We all have dreams. To become a public speaker, you can take all the theoretic lessons but unless you try to speak in public, you can never excel at it. It may take several imperfect and even failed attempts before you can be good at it.

Failure is a small word which has a big impact on our lives. The impact can be either positive or negative and that depends entirely on our attitude towards failure. Fail without fail. Failure does not determine your worth. Your worth is already set in stone. No failure in the world can change that seal of approval that you have in Christ.

So, now just go and try that new impossible you always wanted to. It always seems impossible until its done! And if you fail, you know what to do. Don’t quit. Begin again!

About this Plan

Failure Is An Option

Thousands of young people out of hopelessness and despair over their performance in competitive exams commit suicide when the results are announced. A lot of shame and humiliation is attached to failure but it is rarely talked about. This plan will inspire you to acknowledge the positive role of failures in your life and encourage you to stay the course and not quit.
