Powerful Prayers For Your Daughter By Rob & Joanna TeigenSample
Day Seven
A Light for Her Path
Scripture: Psalm 119:9–16
Father,
You know my devotion to my daughter. I desire to teach her, guide her, and have influence in her life. I want to share the truth about you and help her to discover what a great God you are. But my own efforts are weak and imperfect. I can’t be her best source of direction. The only way she’ll discover perfect truth is from the Bible itself.
Place a deep longing in her heart for you! Make your Word come alive so she can receive all the gifts it contains—the message of salvation, your promises, encouragement, correction, knowledge, wisdom—for the treasures it holds are without number.
As a young person, she is still growing in devotion and discipline. Teach her to seek your truth every day. Give her humility to ask for help when she doesn’t understand. Keep her from becoming devoted to lesser things. Her busy schedule can crowd out time with you. She can become more attached to other girls than her true Friend.
Fill her with courage to declare your Word even when the world dismisses it as a fable. Open her mind to comprehend mysteries that only your Spirit can reveal. Convict her. Lead her. Fill her with hope as she discovers its light for her path.
Make me a diligent student of your Word as well. Give me discernment to know how to “correctly handle the word of truth” so I can teach my daughter well (2 Timothy 2:15, NIV). May my faithfulness in spending time with you encourage her to do the same.
Without hiding your Word in her heart, my daughter will be lost in sin and confusion. She’ll never know the power it can bring to her life. She’ll find herself ill-equipped to deal with stress or pain. She’ll look for hope in useless places instead of in you alone. Let my daughter taste and see how sweet your words can be. When she holds your Book in her hands, may it be her greatest treasure.
May you be just as real to us as anyone we can see face-to-face. Help us to love you with all of our hearts so we live for you without compromise. Own us, Lord, and keep us close to you forever. Amen.
Spend some time praying the words of Psalm 119:10–16 out loud. Ask your daughter to join you, if possible.
