Love God Greatly: To Do Justice, To Love Kindness, To Walk Humbly

DAY 3 OF 26

Samaria´s sins had spread to Judah. We see the prophet Micah weeping over his country, making a list of cities that were doomed by the Assyrians when they took the Northern Kingdom into exile in the year 701. God spared Jerusalem from destruction back then, but since Judah had copied the idolatry of Israel, it would be destroyed.

2 Kings tells us that Israel was taken by the Assyrians because God was very angry with Israel. I love how Warren Wiersbe explains why this happened:  “The tragedy of this invasion is that it need not have happened. Had the people of Israel and Judah turned to the Lord in repentance and faith, He would have given them victory. Instead, they believed the false prophets, held fast to their idols, and sinned their way right into defeat. Sad to say, even the little children suffered and went into exile all because of the sins of the parents.” - Wiersbe, Warren, Be Concerned

We know sin has consequences in our lives but sometimes we willingly suffer these consequences instead of hearing and obeying God's Word. It's time to do things the right way.

Oh Father, forgive me for all the times when Your voice has told me that there was something wrong in my life and I have continued to sin. Help me turn away from my sin and obey Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

Love God Greatly: To Do Justice, To Love Kindness, To Walk Humbly

We are surrounded by injustice and pain. We see it not only in our world but also in our own lives and it can be disheartening and overwhelming. But we are not without hope. This is what Micah is all about. He is not afraid to get in our face about some hard topics like sin and judgement.
