A New Heart

DAY 2 OF 3

A Heart of Flesh

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26 KJV

God will take away your stony heart and give you a heart of flesh. He will give you a new heart and take away the bitterness, guilt, shame, defeat and rejection — if you let Him.

When you turn your heart over to God, He will give you His Love, Peace and Joy. Sometimes, the cares of life try to weigh on our hearts — causing us to become defensive as an attempt to harden our hearts.

Sometimes, when situations disappoint us, or when others disappoint us, or even when we disappoint ourselves, as an emotional safe guard we try to build emotional defense mechanisms around our hearts as an attempt to shield ourselves from the pain of the impact or disappointment.

This “bracing for impact”, is oftentimes referred to as a human coping response on how to handle life’s disappointments. However, this response is completely contrary to how the Word of God teaches us how to handle life’s disappointments. In fact, the Word challenges us to pray for those who use us and to Love our enemies: “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” Matthew 5:44 KJV.

When you “brace for impact” and isolate yourself from others, you allow yourself to be lorded by fear instead of being lorded and led by Love. When you allow fear to lord over your heart, you are in anticipation of “something” going wrong. When you “brace for impact”, fear becomes lord over your emotions and overrules what Love has to say. God is Love. Set your heart on Christ, for He is the Author of our Hearts and Lord over our lives. Let God guide your footsteps and let Him lead your heart. Forgive and set your expectations on Him. He will give you the faith to love.

Prayer:

Father, God in the Name of Jesus, I thank You for softening my heart. I thank You for giving me a heart of flesh. I thank You for giving me a new heart and healing me completely, from the inside out. Lord, You are my Strength and my Redeemer. Father, there is none like You. I submit and surrender to You completely. In Jesus Name. Amen.
